The Task Force on Aging Drivers, compromising joint membership from both the D&V and RSRP Standing Committees undertook a review of issues relating to older drivers commencing in December 1998.

The Task Force's accomplishments can be described as follows:

- the production of a Maturing Drivers Literature Review (1999);
- the holding of a Maturing Drivers Workshop (Ottawa, October 1999);
- the production of the proceedings of the Maturing Drivers Workshop;
- the completion of an aging driver strategy (2000);
- the holding of a Joint AAMVA/CCMTA Driver Fitness / Aging Driver Forum: Challenging Myths and Openning Minds: Aging Driver and the Medically At-Risk Driver (Texas, March 2006); and
- the holding of a special session in November 2006 (Ottawa).

The work of this Task Force is to continue to develop a new Aging Driver Strategy for 2007.
